How to Tackle the Mess After Construction Work
So the construction crews have finally finished their jobs, cleared out, and now you are excited to get down to business. A good survey of the area, however, tells you that you will need to wait a little longer, as you survey the mess that you are left with. This is when our Ricardo Maintenance Groups LLC construction cleaning checklist will come in handy.
Hard floors
Take a long look at your floors, and don’t be scared, as they can be cleaned. All construction work is messy, and your floors will take the brunt of it. First, check them for any damage, if there is none, you can start mopping, waxing, polishing, and buffing. But, if you do come across any damage, get back in touch with your contractor and ask them to perform the repairs.
Rescuing carpets
Carpet fibers are infamous for trapping wooden splinters, debris and dust, and we will not even mention the smell. Which is why you will need to use an industrial shop vacuum to get them back to their original condition. Steam cleaning may even be necessary. However, just remember, that all treated carpets must be left to thoroughly dry before they can be walked upon again.
Walls and baseboards
Both the walls and baseboards in your home will get dented and scratched during a construction project, there is simply no way to avoid it. Crews do use heavy machinery, tools, and equipment that will often cause dents, dings, and bruises. Check for this unavoidable damage, as they will have to be patched and repainted. Once you have addressed these, you are free to clean the walls and give your baseboards a cleaning with some dishwasher detergent and water. If necessary, use a Magic Eraser pencil on any wooden surface scars.
